I have volunteered to work on another Moodlemeet with David LeBlanc – starting May 4th. It is on PBL, Project Based Learning.

About this MoodleMeet

Project Based Learning is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges, simultaneously developing cross-curriculum skills while working in small collaborative groups. During this week, explore research around PBL, view proven examples and learn the steps to develop a PBL curriculum.

I will be moderating a 5 day MoodleMeet in January.

Moodle Meets are free, 5 day online professional development courses led by experienced educators. Moodle Meet topics focus on the resources and skills needed to use technology in the classroom as well as on the skills needed to teach and learn in a virtual environment. Course participants will receive a professional learning certificate.

Although I have retired, I am still involved with Becoming a Webhead (part of the EVO group). Their 2012 sessions start on January 9, 2012. I will be part of weeks 1, 3 and 5 – although probably show up during 2 and 4 also. This dedicated group of ESL educators from around the world has been one of my favorite connections.

RSU4 – Moodle 2.0

I will be spending two days in RSU #4 Litchfield – Sabattus – Wales, Maine working with teachers to learn the ins and outs of their Moodle server. In preparation, I have been working on a new Moodle 2.0 site myself at http://www.new-learning.org

We will hold the first day at the end of June and then follow-up in August after they have a chance to work on their courses for the next school year. This is a great way to continue learning.

I am honored to again be presenting at FOSSED July 6 – 8, 2011. We will meet at Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine.

This year I am concentrating on Moodle 2.0 with two 1/2 day sessions:

Teaching on a Moodle 2.0 Platform
Administering (front end) your Moodle 2.0 Installation

Collaboration and Learning are the main themes for this “Free and Open Source in Education” Conference. I am always pleased to be able to contribute.

EDT 400

Introduction: EDT 400 is an undergraduate course offered by the University of Maine COEHD.

Google with Yarmouth

I spent Friday, March 18, 2011 immersed in Google with teachers from Yarmouth School System. They had a very well planned day to prepare everyone for their upcoming move to Google Apps for Education. I led a group on “Gmail Tips and Tricks” followed by “Blogging with Blogger”.

BAW 2011

This year I will be moderating the first week of “Becoming a Webhead 2011″, BAW2011, for the “Electronic Village Online”, EVO.

Week one includes the first meeting with the worldwide participants and assisting them with online learning, many for the first time. I am working with Dennis Oliver and we will have BJ Berquist introducing TappedIn as our live speaker.

The five week session is open to all – come and join us beginning on January 10, 2011.

Moodl’rific at CEET

Finished up a week with my friends at CEET again. I participated in their Moodl’rific – New Era Teaching and Learning, week. There were participants from around the world mentored by a group of talented educators led by Sandy Hirtz. Webinars, online examples and deep conversations explored the world of distance learning. I am already looking forward to my next chance to work with the talented Computer Using Educators of BC.
